“Hale’s Kitchen”
In September of 2020, I hit an ALL TIME low point. I was in Los Angeles, and within the time span of TWO DAYS the entire city was on lock-down due to Covid-19, I was dropped from a TV show (lost my job), and my catalytic converter was stolen from my Jeep. It felt like the WORLD was ending. I thought, “how am I even going to be able to afford food?!” I began to pray, and at the perfect time, an inspiring Facebook Live was being broadcasted. The two people leading the Facebook Live prayed for hope to enter the lives of anyone who was listening. I agreed with them in prayer, and afterwards, God reminded me of the story of when Jesus multiplied a little boy’s lunch to feed 5,000 men.
In Matthew 14:14-21 it says, “As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, ‘This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food. Jesus replied, ‘They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.’ ’We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,’ they answered. ‘Bring them here to me, he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.”
In the story, Jesus gave THANKS, and the food was multiplied. In my LOW moment the Lord reminded me of this story, and He told me to begin giving thanks. I began to thank Jesus for all that I had, and in that moment I realized I had a social media account with a good number of followers. The Lord then said, “I want you to steward what you have.”
I thought, why not start partnering with companies on Instagram? I believe our bodies are temples of Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19), and I LOVE eating a paleo lifestyle. Why not start posting some fun videos preparing paleo recipes on social media? I started an IGTV series called Hale’s Kitchen (based on my last name + a fun spin on Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen). To my surprise, the series caught on with Instagram viewers. Just a year in, I am now partnering with other companies and sharing a growing menu of paleo cooking moments. I am even launching “celebrity guest” episodes! You can watch one just in time for the Super Bowl here!
